Nobody Watched, Not Even Republicans

Posted by Frankie at 6/30/2005 12:00:00 AM

Looking over the ratings from Bush's Tuesday night prime time speech from Fort Bragg NC, it obviously wasn't "worth it" to watch it... even to Republicans. Only 23 million Americans watched the show or about 7.6% or the population. During the 2004 election, 28.5% of registered voters actually identified themselves as Republican. 28.5% of 157.1 million registered voters equal 44.8 million Republicans. So let’s use the same percent of registered Republicans watched the speech. That’s 6.6 million Republicans or 2.2% of the US population who are also Republicans watched. In my opinion that is a high estimate too as they are less likely to be uncertain or want withdrawal from Iraq. “Just tell me what my position is and I will think it,” type people.

Even without this meaningless analysis the numbers are still way down. As 34.7 million watched his Social Security speech, and we know how that turned out.
