Pro-Lynching Republicans Still Against Apology

Posted by Frankie at 6/21/2005 03:03:00 PM

Two brave Republicans have broken ranks among those who have still yet refused to sign the lynching apology resolution. That makes it a very sad 20% of Senate Republicans are essentially pro-lynching.

The updated 100% Republican wall of lynching shame:

Alexander (R-TN)
Bennett (R-UT)
Cochran (R-MS)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Enzi (R-WY)
Gregg (R-NH)
Kyl (R-AZ)
Lott (R-MS)
Shelby (R-AL)
Sununu (R-NH)
Thomas (R-WY)
What possible moral reason could an elected official have in the 21st century other then they support what the majority of their constituents want?

1. How do you know who voted for it or against it if it passed by Unanimous Consent?

2. Looks like half of the 88 cosponsors are Republicans.

3. What's the point in this bill except to make a few senators feel all warm and fuzzy for a while?

Only a White Republican would not understand a country officially apologizing for not outlawing lynching of Americans. The vote was changed to a voice vote which was not in the original bill. People actually called their Senators, and these people actually defended there vote. They didn’t vote for it because it would be unpopular with their racist constituents, or they are racist themselves and hate black Americans. It’s that simple.

The only Senator who needs to apologize for lynchings is Democrat klan member Robert Byrd (who holds the distinction of being the only Senator to vote NO against black Supreme Court justices in our history)

Byrd has apologized for his past and has since worked tirelessly for all people, his black constituents included.

Unlike his bretheren who rather than rebuke their past and segregation switched over to the Republican Party where their segregationist views and racism would be more tolerated and accepted.

Republicans, both Black and White, were the VICTIMS of the lynchings carried out by Democrats in the South.

Why the hell should Republicans, whether white or black, apologize for being victimized by murderous Democrats?

It doesn't actually matter if an apology is issued or not. I would prefer a mandate that the history of lynching be taught as a matter of course in American grade schools.
The mandate should include some sort of 4Rs training so that we can make students understand that racially motivated violence in America is intolerable and reprehensible.

The stupidity of right wing morons is truly awe inspiring. Southern Democrats deserted the party in the sixties, seventies and eighties over the civil rights issue. The retardlicans inherited these bigoted dirtbags. It was all part of dick nixon's southern strategy, and it worked. By becoming the party of racists, the retardlican fascist party was able to turn the south into the most reliable retardlican area of the country.

The right wing in this country has turned ignorance, stupidity and fear into their most holy sacraments.
