Bush To Veto 90-9 Senate Anti-Torture Bill

Posted by Frankie at 10/07/2005 12:17:00 PM

The "Christian" values of POTUS Bush just keep on shining through. If it's not enough that Bush claims he was told by God to invade Iraq, now Bush threatens to veto a Senate anti-torture law, authored by Republican John McCain, who was tortured as a prisoner in Vietnam, and says the move was backed by American soldiers. Bush would not understand though, he claimed McCain was "crazy" because of being tortured in the 2000 Republican primary. The bill past 90-9 with the 9 "nays" all being Republican. Being what is needed to overturn a Presidential veto, I don't see how this is a smart move for Bush. No matter how much his rapture watching "Christian" right needs a pile of bodies so high that Jesus himself can walk back down from heaven on it. We will see, as it will be Bush's first veto, not on spending, not on taxes, but on anti-torture, remember that "moral" people. My guess is that Bush will just sit on it for 10 days (or whatever it is) and let it become law. Not to mention the law is tied in with a $440 billion defense speding budget for 2006. Will POTUS Bush veto the war after he started it?
