Miltary AWOL crisis, Army offers 15 month enlistment

Posted by Frankie at 5/16/2005 01:12:00 PM

It seems that the US military is facing yet another crisis, thousands of troops are refusing to return to battle and "kill anybody." So who can blame a soldier when they were told that they would be helping fight for our freedom like this:
"We were told that we would be going to Iraq to jack up some terrorists. We were told it was a new kind of war, that these were evil people and they had to be dealt with ... We were told to consider all Arabs as potential terrorists ... to foster an attitude of hatred that gets your blood boiling."
Latest reported figures show that there are over 5,000 troops missing from duty.

So now the Army has a new sell for America, a 15 month enlistment. I wonder if the stop loss is in effect for these kids? One military expert commented:
"Fifteen months, is often not enough time to learn complex tasks in a high-tech Army."
That's great, so the stop loss may not even need to be considered.

Why doesn't "Rev." Chan Chandler formerly from the East Waynesville Baptist Church get some of his young "brainwashed" congregates to sign up. I am sure they will still send their paychecks from their new employer back to Chandler, tax exempt of course.

Priest denies communion, contradicts 1997 US pastoral letter

Posted by Frankie at 5/16/2005 03:38:00 AM

Again a Catholic priest has denied communion to gays or anyone who supports their right to be accepted into the church...
A Roman Catholic priest denied Communion to more than 100 parishioners yesterday, saying they could not receive the sacrament because they wore rainbow-colored sashes to church to show support for gay Catholics.

Before offering Communion, the Rev. Michael Sklucazek told the congregation at the Cathedral of St. Paul that anyone wearing a sash could come forward for a blessing, but would not receive wine and bread.

This contradicts what was suggested in a 1997 pastoral letter entitled “Always Our Children” written by US Catholic bishops.
... the fundamental human rights of homosexual persons must be defended and that all of us must strive to eliminate any form of injustice, oppression, or violence against them...Homosexual persons 'must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity.'

Conservative takover of NPR

Posted by Frankie at 5/16/2005 03:19:00 AM

And so it continues, the tax payer funded right wing propaganda machine grows...

In a column last week in The Washington Times and in an appearance on Tucker Carlson's talk show on PBS, he repeated his belief that public broadcasting's reputation of being left-leaning was a problem. Mr. Tomlinson has been waging a campaign to correct what he and other conservatives see as a liberal bias in public television programming.

Sen Frist protested while buying shoes, gets parking ticket

Posted by Frankie at 5/16/2005 01:50:00 AM

Saw this first over at DU:
U.S. Senator Bill Frist got more than he bargained for when he stopped off to buy shoes in D-C. And we have the pictures to prove it. Frist was buying pricey shoes beneath the offices of Americans United to Protect Social Security, and as you can imagine, protestors were quick to pounce.

Republicans Hate - Proving once again that Republicans hate what the United States of America is and stands for. This sites purpose it to give examples of how Republicans want to change our great country by any means possible and will. These changes are to their liking, and their liking only. Of course not all Republicans or Conservatives hate America, only Neocons deal in absolutes. “Republicans” in the site title is to be interpreted plural for those on the right who feel that they can do no wrong and only righteousness will result in their actions. This includes casting aside the Constitution of the United States for what the great country is built upon. In addition to, the practice of a total disregard to pragmatism, humanism, utilitarianism or any philosophy for the improvement of society as a whole and not just a few. Many people on the right do not deny that why want to change this country: examples are: fascist religious beliefs, elimination of free public education, removal of science (evolution), abolition of all social programs, civil rights bases on supernatural beliefs, etc. This blog is a collection of news stories and other events in which one can truly see how these people cannot stand our country and want to change it for their own specific ideals only.
