It's no surprise that the first Iraq War Veteran to run for a national office is a Democrat. Paul Hackett is running in a special election this August 8th in Ohio against Republican Jean Schmidt.
As one grass roots commercial goes,
...On the same day Jean Smidt ate a four star meal and luxury box seats in Cincinnati paid by lobbist, while Paul Hackett eats a MRE meal and prepares for fighting in Fallujah with his fellow marines...
