Republican representative Henry Hyde proved that his party has no place for science when he stated (audio clip),
"I myself am a 992-month-old embryo."
Which is ironic because the National Institute for Health defines an embryo as:
Embryo - In humans, the developing organism from the time of fertilization until the end of the eighth week of gestation, when it becomes known as a fetus.
Hyde is sticking with Bush, Tom Delay and the religious right although 50 Republicans voted with Democrats across party lines to support additional government stem cell funding. The bill has now moved to the senate for approval where Bush has threatened to veto. Senate Democratic minority leader Harry Reid said Bush was,
"wrong politically, morally and scientifically..."
