Bush Clueless About Economy Again

Posted by Frankie at 6/22/2005 12:32:00 PM

Today within a nuclear power plant in Lusby, MD, Bush tried to put the rosiest face on the US economy with a plethora of contradicting and just downright weasel liners. Bush commented that,

"People are working."

Which contradicts all major news about jobs in which: General Motors will cut 25,000 manufacturing jobs, Win-Dixie will cut 22,000 jobs and close 326 stores in and cease operation in four states, and Ford Motor will cut 2,700 white color jobs.

Sure Mr. Bush, some “people are working” but nearly 50,000 people have or soon will lose their jobs. He went on to say:

"The state of our economy is strong… Americans from all walks of life have got good reason to be confident about the future.

Then does admit:

“I understand parts of our country are still struggling. I know some workers are concerned about jobs going overseas. I know some are concerned about gaining the skills necessary to compete in the global market that we live in. I know that families are worried about health care and retirement and I know moms and dads are worried about their children finding good jobs. So even though the numbers are good, there's still worries out there in the country. And these are the challenges of a rapidly changing economy. And we've got the responsibility in government to take the side of our working families."
Funny coming from a man whose official stance on outsourcing is that it’s a “Good Thing.” Instead of admitting there is a major problem when Winn-Dixie us cutting lower paying service jobs, and we really must deal with it, he goes with the old everything is “OK.”
2 + 2 = 5.
